This prescient economic policy executed for BC Innovation focused on creating a new market in science with Canadian expertise, technologies and partnerships in new emerging markets to help mitigate and address our planets rising environmental challenges. In addition to setting up a new model to fund and advance scientific research of public benefit.

Ethical AI 2021

With the brilliant input of post secondary graduates led Canada's contributions to the UN's working framework 'Ethical AI' aimed at establishing global standards of how AI can and should be used around the world.

Digital Mi'kmaq:Bridging the Digital Divide "Digital Mi'kmaq"

Creating and leading the funding for a unique educational science program in reserve schools. From the ground up I reached out to Canada's best working in aligned digital fields of science (including the Canadian Space Agency and MILA) to create qualitative foundational curriculum for students and educators from K-12. Taught in classrooms on every reserve school across 4 provinces, it also reached over 200,000 others across Canada. One grant at a time I raised $28M in support thereof.

Jeremy Hanson

In 2020 I Invited Jeremy Hansen to visit one of the schools I was working in creating a project to improve science education and digital resources for reserve based schools. Jeremy not only is a great astronaut, a great Canadian but he's also a great human being who understands the importance of hope and dreaming big. So here's to Jeremy, the fantastic Artemis Crew and the newly named landmarks Integrity and Carroll holding the light for all of us on the Dark Side of the moon.

Climate Change Realities

Every sector and economy in the world will have to reposition how they meet increasing natural disasters. I executed this Economic Advisory consultation creating a new strategic plan that realigned a small regional area in Canada with current core economic drivers. Focused initially on the Shuswap region, it was designed to scale. Ironically and tragically after delivering it wildfires devastated the region.

Investment & Funding

Building and leveraging new frameworks with integrity, expertise and distinctive partnerships continues to be my personal hallmark. It is also results driven. Providing over $400M to others in investments and funding. Across industries, and sectors. Whether for corporations like SFS inc. to mitigate IP theft, increase resources and skills for Indigenous children, increase sales for Canadian SME's, revision Ec-Dev today or lead dozens of commercial licensing agreements in broadcasting.

Food Insecurity 2020-2021

To better address and scale a more comprehensive localized approach to rising food insecurity in Canada, I led this multi-million dollar pilot project on behalf of regional arm of the United Way in Eastern Canada. In addition to constructing geothermal greenhouses across 4 provinces and completing the strategic plan, budget, reporting structures and agricultural partners. The future designs for community based grocery stores/food centres were also completed.

Engaging Int. CEO's to crack new markets

Leading the strategies on a new innovative program. Delivered $160M in new commercial contracts for Canadian SME's.

Delivering Emergency Trauma Kits

As Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, I received an email that first responders were having to using tree roots as tourniquets. Pulling together some of the great people Ottawa to in funding, over 500 medical trauma kits were sent to Ukraine.

Championing Canadian Innovation, Science, History and Creativity

With a passionate interest in Canadian science, geography, history, culture and ingenuity I have led the funding and creative frameworks such as this one for the National Library featuring Oscar Peterson utilizing robotics, live recordings, film, radio and photography. Increasing public awareness and use of the archives by 400%. Catalyzing further investment to help digitize the institutions holdings and contribute funding for the construction of new climatic controlled archival facilities.

Quality of Care Future Citizens

Working as the English co-chair for Western Quebec to build public engagement & create new school based structures to implement the $5.00 a day daycare. This planning document was from the federal program introduced in 2023.My work was focused on building more daycare through a new scaleable funded public/private model. Most major cities in Canada have a daycare waiting list of 50,000 and more.

Community Leadership

Following the conclusion of the public enquiry into Hockey Canada in 2023 I was appointed to their transitional board. This followed earlier work in journalism as well as an earlier appointment as co-chair of the Ottawa Sens Community Coalition following their bankruptcy in 2002. As co-chair I helped set up the Sens foundation creating programs like "I'm Going Too !" to increase the opportunity for marginalized families to attend games. The program is still in play and was copied across the NHL

With Indigenous family and long standing experience working with communities across Canada I have also worked as a senior advisor for APTN. Originally building the business case with hard data so as to help secure their original broadcast licence. I have also worked since to launch their first feature film and mentored emerging professionals in production and help advise in the delivery of marketing plans to grow their revenues and partnerships in international distribution.

Water summit

In conference organizing as chair I oversaw this event as well as numerous others throughout my career. In this event, over 3,200 of the world's leading experts, scientists and policy makers were engage to come to Canada to share their expertise, knowledge and ignite new discussions in public policy on how we can best address in public benefit our nations freshwater resources not only for ourselves but the planet at large.

The INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION

Following the outreach from the great cultural icon Carl Sagan to lead the marcomms and ignite future funding support showcasing through a large multi-media multi-platform series all the research and collaborative efforts surrounding the ISS.

THE RED CROSS: The WPC Program

In areas of crisis communications and training I have been engaged as a senior advisor. Including for the national WPC Red Cross program that was focused on reducing violence in rural and Indigenous northern communities. Updating their academic research materials, communications and training materials I have also long mentored and trained people, professionals, government organizations and corporations on best practices in community engagement that are universal and easily implemented.

LIFE WON'T WAIT

This cover is from a book I ghost wrote for Global Affairs capturing the experiences of a Canadian volunteer working in humanitarian relief as a first responder during some of the world's deadliest natural disasters including earthquakes,the 2004 Tsunami and resource driven geopolitics.

A passionate advocate of the arts and the importance of thinking creatively, I continue to advocate and share solutions to increase the presence of the arts. In planning and policy areas I have executed working documents for the CRA, BC Film and Alberta Culture for the entertainment sector. Generationally my family has as well in direct actions that founded things like the Canada council, theatres, ballet companies, symphonies and scientific research scholarships.

People Matter & Local Matters

This policy roadmap examined the ROI and the benefits of the arts in Canada as well as the pressing need for reform in funding and connection. Whether individually, philanthropically, corporately or in government policy. It also examined the working wages of artists and innovative new approaches rolling out in places like Ireland and Japan that have become force multipliers not only for individual artists but for local economies as well.

Climate Competitiveness with Science

This competitive climate policy planning strategy focused on increasing new markets for applied climate technologies and solutions in energy, agriculture, hydrology, sanitation and the life sciences for world markets.

Teaching/Mentoring

With 25 years in business, journalism and as a senior advisor I continue to mentor emerging and seasoned professionals in corporate due diligence, risk analysis and improvements that advance operational best practices. Including for programs and government departments like Innovation and Social Development Canada, Global Affairs, post secondary institutions like UBC the University of Montreal and various non-profit boards.

Increasing International Visitation to Canada by 1200%

Creating the national brand and policy framework for Canadian tourism upon launch it increased international visitation by 1200%. employment in the sector by 123% and expanded new SME businesses in the sector by 76% The Visioning Framework highlighted Canadian experiences off the beaten path underscoring our unique geography, culture and people who call the country home.

Governance & Oversight

Ethics and integrity are imperative for civil society to function. Whether in relation to government oversight, philanthropy, corporate governance, professional associations or the law. Outside the core principals of ethics and decent human values, it's also smart. Honesty remains the best and most cost effective policy for everyone ensuring national security, safety and flourishing economies.

UNESCO

Working with UNESCO over the years, they remain a jewel of an organization. This series I executed for them involved developing new communication strategies and educational materials to better engage villagers, schools and local leadership at grassroots levels.
